Abstract

This study explores the application of discourse analysis in high school English reading teaching, aiming to enhance students' reading abilities and critical thinking skills. By incorporating discourse analysis, teachers can help students better understand the structure, main ideas, and implicit meanings of texts, thereby improving their reading comprehension and language skills. The re-search shows that a reading teaching model combined with discourse analysis can strengthen students' awareness of discourse, improve classroom teaching efficiency, and promote a deeper understanding of English reading materials. This approach provides effective strategies and theoretical support for improv-ing the quality of high school English reading teaching.
