Abstract

The green transformation of grain production is an essential pathway for alleviating pressures on agricultural resources and environment, ensuring food security, and achieving the dual carbon goals. As the core decision-making entities in grain production, farmers’ green transformation behaviors are influenced by multiple factors and have become a frontier topic in agricultural economics research. This paper systematically reviews the literature on the green transformation of grain production by farmers. It summarizes the driving mechanisms of agricultural green production transformation from the perspectives of technological innovation, institutional synergy, market incentives, and multi-actor interaction. It analyzes the influencing factors of farmers’ green production transformation from the perspectives of individual characteristics, digital participation, industrial organization models, and external environmental factors, and proposes pathways for enhancing agricultural green transformation. The research indicates that farmers’ green transformation is a process co-driven by technological empowerment, policy regulation, market pull, social norms, and organizational leadership. However, existing research still has limitations, including insufficient identification of social interaction mechanisms in transformation behaviors and inadequate assessment of transformation outcomes. This paper provides a literature foundation and directional insights for deepening the theoretical understanding of farmers’ green transformation and optimizing policy design.
