Abstract

As the wheels of the new era roll forward, the turbulent situation previously caused by wars has been significantly improved domestically. Against this back-drop, the severity and prominence of "hard sacrifices," which are typically characterized by direct threats to the life and safety of journalists, have been alleviated. However, the evolution of the new media era has also spawned a series of novel dilemmas. These changes have forced the journalist community to encounter numerous complex and thorny "soft sacrifice" situations concerning their adherence to and choices of journalism ethics, the weighing and calibrating of moral judgments, as well as career planning and development. These dilemmas profoundly affect the career trajectories and personal circumstances of journalists, which in turn exert a non-negligible impact on the ecology of the entire journalism industry. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the academic community, the in-dustry, and all sectors of society to elevate their cognitive awareness, attach great importance to, and deeply explore these emerging issues. It is imperative to face the value choices made by journalists amidst the tide of the new media era with a rational and objective attitude, providing them with the respect and support they deserve. This will ultimately promote the healthy and orderly development of journalism in the new media era, safeguard the legitimate rights and professional dignity of news practitioners, and facilitate the benign operation and continuous optimization of the social information dissemination system.
