Utilizing textual materials from the public security archives of Yuandang Valley, and employing a qualitative approach combined with quantitative ROSTCM6 text mining technology, this study analyzes the characteristics of garden space landscapes, activity patterns, and the relationship between the two. The findings reveal the following: 1) The spatial landscape of Yuandang Valley features a hierarchical structure dominated by the northern courtyard, supplemented by the southern entrance and the northwest plateau; it is a composite form based on natural ecology, superimposed with humanistic activities. It forms seven landscape image themes: bamboo, water, flowers, stones; poetry, painting, and orange pavilion; plum corridor and snow sparrow; lakeside boat mountain; wind pond and crane platform; medicinal herbs and fence repair; and table and bedside. 2) As Yuan Zhongdao's retreat and residence, the activities carried out in the garden space of Yuandang Valley can be categorized into three activity patterns: seclusion life, literati gatherings, and sightseeing and appreciation. 3) The outdoor space of Yuandang Valley relies on natural landscapes to construct a bidirectional symbiotic system between scenery and people, and its activity attraction is significantly superior to that of the indoor space. This reveals the essence of classical gardens as a means to stimulate emotional and scenic experiences, ultimately achieving harmony and unity between humans and nature through the coupling of space and activity.
