Abstract

With the advancement of the times, English teaching systems, especially those for primary and secondary school English courses, have undergone continuous transformation. This paper analyzes the prominent existing problems in English courses, sorts out the driving forces behind English curriculum reforms in China’s education, and outlines a comprehensive new blueprint for holistic student development. It summarizes the transformations of the new primary and secondary school English curriculum system with Chinese characteristics in the new era, focuses on four major breakthroughs brought by the new round of English curriculum reform, and finally discusses the remaining challenges and difficulties in fully implementing the reform, so as to provide references for the further development of English teaching.
