Academic quality standards provide an important basis for cultivating students’ English subject core competencies. In primary English teaching, however, the effective use of these standards to design high-quality unit-based integrated practice activities remains challenging. Drawing on Unit 2 “My Favourite Season” in the PEP Grade 5 textbook (Volume 2), this study proposes three instructional strategies: aligning instruction with academic quality standards and using backward design to develop a visualized assessment rubric; adopting a whole-unit perspective to integrate interdisciplinary project inquiry tasks; and implementing the English learning activity approach through progressively structured language-practice scaffolds. The study aims to explore an effective pathway toward the integration of teaching, learning, and assessment and to improve the implementation of unit-based integrated practice lessons.
