Against the backdrop of the increasing visualisation of information dissemination, stick figures have become a commonly used teaching form in primary school classrooms due to their characteristics of strong generality and rapid expression. Since the 1980s, the skill of stick figure drawing has been an essential competency for normal university students majoring in primary education. However, in practical teaching, some of these students lack sufficient attention and have a weak awareness of application, which hinders the improvement of their stick figure drawing skills. To address this issue, starting with the cultivation of application awareness, this paper proposes three approaches: strengthening theoretical cognition, intensifying practical training, and integrating teaching scenarios with illustrations and texts. It is argued that enhancing application awareness is the key to promoting the improvement of stick figure drawing skills.
